In 2003 my husband, our three children and I moved from London to Somerset West.
Like many tourists, we had fallen in love with South Africa, its beautiful landscape and its warm and friendly people. That is how an extended holiday turned into 13 years of living in the Western Cape.
Originally I am from Berlin, but since graduating from medical school in 1991 I have been living and working in the UK. As I don't have a licence to practise medicine in South Africa, I decided to use my spare time and enthusiasm to work with local social projects. The terrible poverty and limited future prospective of many people in our close neighbourhood is palpable and still touches me on a daily basis.
Due to my proficient knowledge of the English language my main strengths are in communication and organisation. With the use of diligence and cultural empathy I try to establish and maintain a good trust and working relationship between the projects and "us" at Einfachhelfen. With everything I am doing my aim is to keep the people as our main focus. My goal is to help to make the present life in our local community a bit better and build a future full of hope.
